REVIEW: PIstachio Lemon Glazed Murder

Pistachio Lemon Glazed Murder
Author: Susan Gillard

Heather Shepherd's doughnut shop, Donut Delights, is going to have competition. Local tough guy, Geoff Lawless, is opening his own bakery, Delightful Donuts, right across town. Already steamed about the similar name for his new business, Heather is even more upset when she discovers her grandmother's recipe book has been stolen from her office. The book contains all of the recipes for Heather's doughnut creations. She goes across town to confront Geoff (who was seen lurking outside her doughnut shop that day) about the missing book.....only to discover a dead body. Jelly Polinski lies dead on the floor....   Uh oh.....Heather finds herself a suspect in another murder case related to her shop, and theft of her grandmother's recipes. She's back on the case to clear her name!

This story is a light, entertaining read. I like the photo of the doughnut on the front cover! It definitely looks yummy!

As in past books there are editing issues with this story. Nothing major....just mistakes that should have been corrected before publication. Sentences that use incorrect words or wrong pronouns...the sort of mistakes that spell check won't correct but an editor would. Plus some grammar errors. Like I said...nothing major, but it does pull my attention away from the story when I hit multiple mistakes. Editing is very important, even in self-published books. But.....that being said.....I still enjoyed the story.

Pistachio Lemon Glazed Murder is the 12th book in the Donut Hole cozy mystery series. There are 60 novellas in this series, along with a spin-off series, Oceanside Cozy Mysteries. I like the characters and the doughnut shop theme. The books are fun to read, but they do need better editing.

On to the next book!! :)
